“Words can’t really express how we feel when we look at our wedding photos. But the following top 10 list tries to explain a few of the reasons why it was so great to work with the woman who shot them.

• Creativity.
Jen has an amazing eye for unique, creative, artistic shots. We literally did not give her any direction about the kind of shots we wanted. We simply trusted in her talent and her abilities, which allowed her to stay in the moment, and let the situation and the circumstances dictate the shots that she got. The results are truly breathtaking.

• No Worries.
Jen was on it. She was practically the only vendor that we didn’t have to worry about. We knew she’d be there on time (in fact she was early) and would do an amazing job (and she did).

• We Didn’t Feel Like Posers.
All of our portraits felt so natural – and fun! We were allowed to be normal people – and not be forced into poses that didn’t feel like us. We had a blast! In fact, we’re probably going to have to do it again someday (maybe with a dog, or a baby in a few years??)….

• Jen Knew Our Style.
Probably one of the most important parts about our relationship with Jen was the fact that we were fans of her work from the very start. Our wedding coordinator, Tiffany Cannis, recommended Jen to us because she thought we’d hit it off. As soon as we checked out her website we knew that we needed to meet. And within 5 minutes of meeting with Jen we knew that she was the perfect person to shoot our wedding. During our meeting, she totally dialed in to the kind of people we were and the kind of shots we liked.

• She’s a Total Pro.
She worked her butt off to deliver us a collection of photographs that not only documented an event that we had spent a ton of time planning, but she also captured the essence of how we felt about each other, and the excitement we felt about getting married. She was such a pro and knew what to shoot. From our first kiss to our first dance, from the drink menu to portraits of drunk friends and family – Every detail is documented beautifully!

• ‘A’ for Attitude.
On the day of our wedding, Jen was such a pleasure to be around. We didn’t feel like a paparazzi was stalking us all day… She was super cool and laid back. If we wanted to take an extra couple minutes to make out on the bed in our hotel room, she didn’t rush us to the next spot. And if a spot wasn’t working out, she didn’t make it seem like the end of the world. She just allowed us to enjoy every moment.

• Dirty Girl.
She literally laid down, on her stomach, in the dirt, for the perfect shot! She wasn’t all hoity toity about getting dirty for a good picture! We were SO impressed!! It was such a non-issue – she saw the shot and before we knew it she was completely sprawled out on the ground shooting. It was rad.

• Wicked Fast Turnaround.
We weren’t sure how long we’d have to wait to see the pictures, but we got a teaser while we were on our honeymoon when she posted some of the shots to her photography blog. A DVD with all of the shots was delivered to us by the time we got back from our honeymoon, just 2 weeks later! By that same day, the pictures had been posted to Jen’s website so that our friends and family could check them out and order prints. Everyone was super appreciative of the quick turn around!

• No “Album” Pressure. Standardly photographers build the cost of “albums” into their packages. We didn’t have the desire to commit to an album prior to our big day. Jen had a package that was perfect for us! We mainly wanted all the digital files & figured we’d sort the rest out later. Thank goodness!

• The Price is Right.
From the start, with Jen, there wasn’t ever a point that we felt like we were getting ripped off. And In hind sight, our instincts were spot on. The services that Jen and her team provided for us actually fit within our budget (shocker!) and exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t have hoped for anything more!

as our luck would have it we got an upgrade from the bell 412 helicopter that picked up jones to the sikorsky S-70A firehawk! which meant an even more awesome experience and definitely better perspective for shooting. hello, i sat next to an open window! if this was a military blackhawk, i would have been in the gunners seat shooting at things when needed ! instead i got to do the kind of shooting i do best. the open window is kind of crazy that high in the air. but the fresh air and cool breeze is pretty amazing. not to mention that L.A. is gorgeous from that perspective. thank you thank you thank you, chief marrone, our pilot tom, and everyone we met yesterday. you gave us an experience we will never forget. i hope i never (again) meet you under real conditions, but my heart is full of gratitude for all you do. chief marrone is now a fan of my blog, though since he isn’t interested in my wedding work, will keep me seeking out other side projects. he has a print from my route 66 shots on its way now. here are some pics.

i think jones would make a perfect trauma/rescue/fire dog don’t you. he was sooooo good. he sat there like a perfect dog. he was born to fly.

i love these shots of malibu. i shot these on auto white balance, imported to lightroom and just converted to jpeg. the water really looked this beautiful from our perspective. the kelp beds were pretty extraordinary.

jones eyes started to pop out of his head when he realized we were landing. i think when we were in the air he could only see blue but as soon as he saw the tops of trees he realized he should be freaking out.
