gotta love thatcher.

i truly had given up on my winter garden. i was sure the summer corn had sucked up all the nutrients from the soil. so i gave up and ignored it for a month and next thing i knew we had broccoli! cauliflower and cabbage! now lets just see if it grows past this miniature stage and i can cook some fabulous soups and gratins.

we took fox to return to freedom ranch to learn about the plight of our wild horses. it is a wonderful sanctuary devoted to the freedom of wild horses.

here is a picture of my favorite herd family from the day

i have wanted a vegetable garden for FOREVER. thanks to eric, steph, fox a handy rotor tiller and me we finally have one.

the low clouds spilling over the mountains were so breathtaking that sadly a still image doesn’t even do them justice. i ended up just putting my camera down and enjoying it.

lanie and evan, my niece and nephew,just moved to the middle of nowhere in iowa. it was such a fantastic prairie landscape for these portraits and i think fox was very happy that i had other willing subjects . . .
